Lungs, Large Intestine and Skin – Some Natural Scientific Interpretations

Walburg Maric-Oehler
President of the German Medical Acupuncture Society /DAGFA, Germany

This is a summery of the 2nd Mainz Acupuncture Congress ACUPUNCTURE AND UNIVERSITY which has been arranged at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz in co-operation with the German Medical Acupuncture Society / DAGFA to find out the common basics in science between the lungs functional sphere of Chinese medicine and Western pulmology, gastroenterology, dermatology, immunology, psychosomatics, biophysics and philosophy in “Allergic diseases of Skin and Mucosa”.

Summarised in the first step it could have been worked out different common scientific details to demonstrate the functional energetic connections between lungs, large intestine and their corresponding tissue skin respectively mucosa with relations to the opener nose and the fluid mucos.

Different bridges could have been found in embryology, physiology, neurophysiology, immunology, biophysics and Western psycosomatics.

It still was not possible to find an explanation for a specific correlation of the emotional factor sadness. It seems to be more importance of the affectivity as a whole.

Other analogies like taste, smell, behaviour, colour, bioclimatic factor or season are also waiting for more scientific explanation in their bounding to lungs.

It also could have been demonstrated, that principle phenomenons of the lungs phase such like limiting, exchange, contact, relation to inner and outer environment, symbiotic ability, detoxification, purification, losing, border experience, going over, emptiness, harvest, fall and expiring can be partly explained in a scientific way.
