In reason of the utilization of electrical equipment, anesthesia by acupuncture may be considered a biocibernetic technique. Based on pain suppression by the application of needles in points as the auricular ones (shen men), it acts on both the superior and the inferior maxillae, producing the dental analgesia.
This paper informs on the acupuncture anesthesia mechanism in the light of the “gatetechnique theory”, pointing out advantages such as the application on cardiac patients, better hemostasy and cicatrization, as well as the stability of the blood pressure. On the other hand, a psychological preparation of the patients is found to be necessary.
